Our work in transport

How we work

We work across the full mobility spectrum, from passenger cars to public transport, cargo bikes to compact EVs. Helping brands craft meaningful products that resonate in people’s lives and perform in the real world.

We begin with insight, studying how people move, interact with, and experience vehicles in their context. From daily commutes to last-mile delivery, we uncover unmet needs and friction points. Then design around them with clarity and purpose. Our multidisciplinary team balances innovation with reality.

We design experiences that are intuitive, inclusive and aligned with brand values. By connecting real user needs with bold, consistent storytelling, we help our clients launch vehicles, services and mobility products that build loyalty, stand out and scale.

Our Design Process

Case Story: VDL New Generation Citea

When VDL introduced a new generation of powerful batteries and a cutting-edge electric drive system, they knew it called for more than an update, it needed a completely new vision. As longstanding design partners behind the VDL brand identity and multiple vehicle platforms, MODYN was brought in to shape the next generation of Citea buses, starting from the ground up, with a focus on futureproof design and electric performance.

A modern electric cargo bike, perfect for urban environments, boasts a sleek gray frame parked against a concrete wall. It features two black child seats on the rear rack, each equipped with footrests and safety harnesses. The front of this urban mover has a rack for carrying additional cargo.

Case Story: Urban Mover longtale

The Urban Mover longtale bike for Astro Tech Co. Ltd. Cities and urban areas are witnessing a shift as the bicycle replaces the car as the primary mode of transport. Rechargeable (electric) bikes in particular have grown in popularity, while the long-tail cargo bike is now on the rise. The UM long-tail cargo bike offers greater comfort for transporting loads or children.

Case Story: Thule Car Seat Range

Thule, seeking to expand its lifestyle brand and diversify its product offerings, turned to longtime design partner MODYN to help create its first-ever car seat range. Although Thule had a vision for an infant and toddler car seat with a matching base tailored for the European market, they depended on MODYN to shape the product’s direction and ensure it stayed true to the brand’s established design principles.

Rotterdam Ferry Concept

Rotterdam, with its unique geographical urban layout, is a city divided by the river Meuse. This division creates significant mobility challenges, especially for residents of former port areas that have been redeveloped into residential areas. The car-oriented infrastructure keeps commuting by sustainable means such as cycling or public transport difficult, limiting accessibility to work and schools throughout the city. Traditional solutions, such as bridges and ferries, are expensive, and existing public transport struggles to efficiently bridge these gaps.

Our concept to keep Rotterdam moving

Our Work With Bosch

Rexroth innovated totally new electrical machinery that allowed their flight simulator to mimic real-life scenarios, everything from high speeds to g-force, with clean and silent propulsion. However, the machine was designed by engineers for sheer usability. The design lacked a quality feel that mirrored the incredible tech and engineering behind the product itself.
