Electric is shaping the bike

The show featured a strong push toward electric motorcycles and scooters, not just small urban models, but higher-performance machines.

For example, Honda revealed its first full-sized electric motorcycle (the WN7) at EICMA 2025, signaling a major step and showing how battery and motor layout now drive the whole package.

The trend isn’t only about replacing combustion, it’s about using electric powertrains to redefine the ride: instant torque, quieter operation, new packaging, advanced battery tech.

At this year’s EICMA in Milan, technology took center stage. Motorcycle brands emphasized advanced rider aids and radar-based safety tech, with systems like ABS, traction control, and ride modes now standard across many models.

Ducati pushes safety systems, while suppliers showcased sleek new ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) solutions.

Smart lighting linked to a front camera

Yamaha’s updated Tracer 9 added a standout feature, smart lighting linked to a front camera.

Connectivity also surged forward, with smart displays and smartphone integration becoming the norm.

The message from EICMA 2025 was clear: today’s motorcycles are not just faster, but smarter, safer, and more connected than ever.

Diversification across segments and markets

EICMA 2025 highlighted a clear shift in the global motorcycle industry: diversification across segments and markets. Major brands used the Milan show to expand beyond their traditional niches, unveiling models that range from electric scooters and urban mobility solutions to adventure tourers and premium lifestyle machines.

The trend reflects a broader strategy to reach riders worldwide, not just in Europe. Manufacturers are positioning themselves for growth in emerging markets while appealing to new customer groups seeking practicality, sustainability, or high-end performance.
This year’s show confirmed that the two-wheeler landscape is no longer defined solely by mass urban transport, it now encompasses lifestyle, export potential, and adventure-oriented innovation.

Personalization was a standout trend at EICMA 2025, reflecting how riders increasingly want machines and gear that express individual style. Exhibitors showcased everything from custom wraps and interchangeable panels to helmets with configurable visors and color options.

Motorbikes bikes with illuminated side panels

Some manufacturers went even further, introducing bikes with illuminated side panels or tanks featuring customizable lighting, allowing riders to adjust colors or patterns via onboard controls or smartphone apps.

This focus on aesthetics, individuality and user-controlled design shows how customization is becoming a core part of the modern riding experience, extending beyond performance to personal identity.
Design played a major role at EICMA 2025, with color, material, and finish (CMF) choices signaling a shift toward more expressive, hightech aesthetics. Exhibitors highlighted an increased use of carbon fiber, not just for weight reduction, but as a visible design element emphasizing precision and performance.

Graphic patterns and custom wraps

Across brands, bright colors, neon accents, and contrast detailing stood out, replacing the muted palettes of previous years. Graphic patterns and custom wraps added individuality, while some concept models introduced semi-transparent panels and see-through detailing that reveal structural or electronic components beneath.

The result was a strong visual message: modern motorcycles are becoming design statements in their own right, lighter, bolder, and more distinctive than ever.
