Dutch Design Week 2025 Highlights: MODYN Trend Report

DDW 2025 offered a vivid snapshot of where Dutch design is heading. We experienced this year’s edition through a deeply material-driven, human-centered lens.

Across Eindhoven, the most prominent themes were impossible to miss: the tension between AI-driven futures and low-tech essentialism, the call for human connection in an increasingly digital world, a renewed focus on modularity and longevity, and a strong push toward equity, inclusivity and social impact.

Alongside this, CMF expression took center stage with raw, honest materiality, refined 3D-knits and a growing appreciation for color.

This year, fort the first time we hosted our MODYN CMF Tour with clients and friends, a walk through DDW’s most relevant installations and material explorations, sharing insights, directions and tangible takeaways for future products and design strategies.

We also attended Women in Design at Accenture, where we engaged in open conversations about AI, intuition, and the dynamics shaping design today. DDW 2025 showed that the future of design is grounded in purpose. This report highlights the key themes and signals that stood out to us.

This year’s Dutch Design Week revealed few key themes shaping the future of product and CMF design. Together, they reflect a shift toward more intentional, human-centered innovation, balancing technological progress with simplicity, material honesty, and social relevance.

The highlights in the MODYN Dutch Design Week Trend Report 2025 capture the most influential directions we observed, offering a clear lens on where design is heading next.
